A multimillion-dollar homeowner is a specialist in their own craft. They may be a surgeon, an executive, a founder, or an investor — but they are not experts in house painting or long-term property upkeep. Yet every home, no matter how beautiful, requires consistent care to remain protected from the elements and visually exceptional.
When I first entered the painting trade, something immediately bothered me. I watched contractors rush through projects without taking the time to truly understand the homeowner’s goals. They focused on finishing quickly and moving on to the next job — often leaving clients confused, disappointed, and feeling taken advantage of.
Sadly, many homeowners are taken advantage of. They aren’t educated on the products being used. They aren’t informed about the process. They aren’t given clarity around timelines or long-term maintenance. And when something goes wrong, they’re left holding the responsibility.
That didn’t sit right with me.
So in 2003, I started Basurto Painting with a different philosophy:
